Different Roles in the West End Meeting

Toastmaster - See the Agenda in the Education section.  Call the speakers on Tuesday.

Invocator/Word Host - The word of the week is listed on the schedule.  Look up the word in the dictionary.  Tell us where the word is from Greek , Latin etc and the part of speech.  Print a copy of the word on a poster or piece of paper big enough for everyone to see the word.  Ask if anyone in the audience knows the meaning of the word.  If not, provide it.  Ask if anyone in the audience would like to use the word in a sentence.  If not, be prepare with one.

The invocation can be a quote, an inspiration story, a prayer is acceptable but is not recommended, we have to consider other religions.  It is always God before country.  The quote is giving before the Pledge.  The Pledge is not giving if a flag is not present.  The time is no longer than one minute.

Table Topics Master - See the Table Topics Section.  Use only the people not on the schedule unless they volunteer.  Also, guests are not called on they can volunteer and remember visiting Toastmasters are fair game.

Vote Counter/Joke Master - The vote counter counts all the votes for Best Speaker, Best Evaluator, Best Table Topics and the most improved.  The vote counter breaks the tie but does not mention he had to break the tie.  Ask for the ribbons before the meeting.  At the end of the meeting announce the winners. The Joke Master provides a clean joke  or funny story before the break.  Read and practice the joke before the meeting.

Listenup - Listen to each of the table topics and speakers.  Have one question from each that you can stump the other Toastmasters with at the end of meeting.  When the General Evaluator calls on you, you will ask the question and see if anyone in the meeting remembers what was said by the speaker.
